Objectives

The overall objective of the project is to facilitate innovation and knowledge transfer in Greece according to three main polluting sectors such as energy, industry and transport. This will be accomplished through scientific analysis of current processes and actors in this field, the identification of key actors and sectors to focus on in the future and finally by giving scientific advice as to provide information about energy policy of Greece through the study of emissions reduction potential and mitigation opportunities in the major emission sectors in the country.
Τhe project has the following 7 specific objectives:

  1. To explore key target sectors according to the share in national emission, energy consumption intensity, data availability.
  2. Knowledge accumulation in mitigation technology and sectoral influence to the country.
  3. To construct appropriate alternative emission scenarios in each sector.
  4. To identify the costs of the mitigation options of the sectors.
  5. To construct least-cost curves concerning the reductions of GHG emissions.
  6. To explore sectoral preference when determining the policies from different perspectives.
  7. To select proper policy and identify the most cost-effective mitigation measures.
